Fugazi - ‘Suggestion’ from 13 Songs/self-titled EP
with respect to Post Punk, there are better, stronger, more powerful songs on the first seven-track EP alone than ‘Waiting Room’, superb as it is. I think ‘Suggestion’ is one of the songs that make me believe in Fugazi, in what they do and what they stand for. You can hear echoes of their future work, both in style and content, in this song perhaps more strongly than in any other on the record. Lyrically it still stands as one of Fugazi’s most powerful songs, unfortunately still as relevant today in some cases as it was in ‘88… it builds up to that final, accusative “GUILTY!” and bleeds into the closing track on the EP, ‘Glue Man’, the tour de force of the Fugazi new sound.
